1968 born in London

Platon studied graphic design at St. Martin's School of Art and fine art photography at the Royal College of Art

Early in the 1990's, while still a student, Platon started photographing for British Vogue. He has gone on to shoot portrait, fashion and documentary work for a range of international publications, including The New York Times Magazine, American Esquire, Newsweek, TIME Magazine, Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone

In 2008, he was awarded frist prize at the World Press Photo contest for his portrait of Vladimir Putin, after signing a multi-year contract with The New Yorker, one that was previously held by the late Richard Avedon. Platon earned a Peabody Award for a large-scale photo-essay on the emergence of civil society in Russia.

In 2013, Platon founded a non-profit organization – The People's Portfolio.Through portrait photography the foundation humanizes statistics, celebrates human rights defenders around the world, promotes compassion and advocates responsible citizenship among members of the global community. Today, public speaking plays a major role in Platon’s storytelling process and he speaks passionately about the importance of values in leadership and champions a deeper respect for human and civil rights. He is on the Board of Arts and Culture for the World Economic Forum.

He lives and works in New York.
